Decent condition original WWI German 98/05 Mauser butcher bayonet that is maker marked “SIMSON & CO. SUHL” on the left ricasso and dated 1915 on the spine. This interesting bayonet was originally made with a sawback blade, but the sawteeth were later removed due to pressure from Allied propaganda or postwar reissue. Blade has patina, some light nicks, as well as grease on it, I wanted to let new owner decide how/if they wanted it cleaned up. Wood grips show some wear. Fitted in correct original steel scabbard that has brown patina. A good example of a “sawback removed” 98/05 bayonet that will make a nice addition to a collection.
