World War 1 German combination trench knife / with Bowie blade.

Description

In this auction you will be bidding on a World War-1 German combination trench knife / bayonet with Bowie blade, no makers mark. Bayonet catch functions perfectly and holds knife securely on a rifle.the eye of the bayonet catch has been drilled out and a piece of copper put in to make it look even more like a bird's eye, this is factory done. The nickel plating on the pommel is all but gone. The wooden scales are held in place with two steel pins and show no signs of cracking or rot. The knife is very tight overall with absolutely no wiggle. Blade is sharp and shows no signs of sharpening post factory. There are three deflections in the blade where it appears something was chopped. The scabbard shows 0% remaining of its original black paint. The leather belt hanger is still soft and supple and the snap hold the knife firmly in place. The snap hand is larger than the typical World War type and is not decorated.
