This is a rare bird. Had a listing snafu last week and had to edit and relist. This is a Pre-War Pioneer bayonet, unit marked, high ears, not a butcher blade. Its been to war thats for sure! Has nice even patina on the blade, no rust or pitting but signs of use especially some hammer marks at the end as shown. The blade has what looks like the original edge, cant see any sharpening to it. The sawback is still ride the lightning sharp so be careful! It is stamped VC Schilling Suhl amd is spine dated 05 and a few crowns as shown. The guard is stamped 23 R.P 2 218. The grips are great, high ears nice, button works perfectly. Just an outstanding example! The sheath is the correct leather Pioneer for the period, its in excellent condition, no shrinkage, the bayonet inserts fully and to the hilt. It has two different pioneer groups on the throat, first one stamped out says B A F A1a and the next is B.1.P. 3.4. Stitching is tight, no spread, no cracks, bends or breaks. The throat and drag are solid with no movement. Outstanding and quite scarce bayonet, investment quality, never mind stocks, these things hold their value and only go UP UP UP!!!
