Our animal bedding pellets are made of compressed wood fibers. Uncle Jed’s makes pellet animal bedding from 100% recycled wood. The wood is processed into small particles and exposed to heat and high pressure to make the animal bedding pellets. This makes bedding pellets all natural, compostable, renewable and biodegradable. Additionally, because each bag of bedding pellets is so dense, minimal storage space is needed. Each 40 lb bag of bedding pellets is equal to approximately 2.5 bales of shavings.

For large animals like horses, bedding pellets can be used in two forms; dry, whole pellet form or moistened, expanded form. To use the dry pellet form simply pour the desired amount of pellets onto the floor of the habitat. It’s usually better to start with a minimum amount and then add more once the animal begins to utilize the habitat. To use the moistened pellet form, simply wet the 40 lb bag of bedding pellets with approximately 1 gallon of water and watch the pellets expand into a sawdust like material. Spread the pellets out to the desired depth, then let your animal enjoy the benefits of wood pellet bedding.
Each 40 lb bag of moistened bedding pellets should cover around a 5-foot square area with a depth of 1.5 inches.
