Good condition original pre WWI Imperial German Model 1889 infantry officer sword that is maker marked “ROBERT THERMES SOLINGEN” on the left ricasso and dated 1891 on the spine. Sword is unit marked “6.P.4.3.” on the back of the guard for the 6

Pioneer Battalion, Company 4, Weapon 3. 31 ¾” blade has original bright finish with some graying. Still has original leather washer at the base. Brass guard has nice looking patina. Has the Prussian eagle on the guard. Sharkskin covered grip shows some wear and loss and has tight wire wrap. Right side has original Kaiser Wilhelm cypher device. Fitted in correct original steel scabbard that has original blue metal finish with some scattered brown scale and several dents. Throat screws are missing. Scabbard has a matching unit marking to that on the sword. A nice German M1889 IOD for your collection.
