ITALIAN E. & F. Hörster, Solingen -Unione Militare Roma sabre sword

Description

The Roman designation Union Militare represents the Reformed Royal Italian Army, which dates from 1861 and lasts until 1946, when the monarchy was abolished. This gives us a good indication of the year of manufacture of this sword. The handle is made of wood with knots and colors of the coat of arms. The F. Horster-Solingen blade is beautifully engraved with great fineness. Probably a horse saber and as MAP kindly gave us the last date of F Horster from 1875, we can conclude that this was produced between 1861 and 1875. The blade rusted a bit, but the engraving is beautiful. This is not the sword we see often. It is complete, and it is a wonderful part of history ...
