    Very good condition original WWI Imperial German Bavarian Model 1889 cavalry officer dress sword that has Alex Coppel manufacturer markings on the left ricasso. 32 ½” blade has original bright plated finish with some freckling and has been period sharpened. Nice original etching on both sides including the “In Treue Fest” motto on the right side and unit marked to the 5

    Royal Bavarian Chevaulegers “Archduke Albrecht of Austria”. Remaining metal finish is nice original bright. Folding guard has Bavarian lion design. Hard rubber grip has a good tight fit and a few tiny dings, no cracks or chips. Fitted in an original period steel scabbard that may be a replacement. Scabbard is worn bright with some gray and brown patina and a few dents. A scarce Bavarian M1889 KOD for your collection.
