This is a ww1 German bayonet. Made for the Mauser Rifle.
As shown, it is clearly stamped by the maker.

Original WWI Imperial German S98/05 butcher bayonet manufactured by Waffenfabrik Mauser - A.G. Oberndorf a.N.
dated 1917 on the spine. The wooden handle is original. oiled frequently over the years.
Bayonet is tight with no wiggle in the scabbard.
The spring in the scabbard locking mechanism, works smooth. The blade is tight in the scabbard.
Bayonet comes complete with steel scabbard.
The dimensions are :
19.75 " long, with a 14.5" blade.
The blade width goes from 1.25 " max to 1.00" min.
The blade's slight taper gives the bayonet the nickname of butcher.
The spring still locks the blade securely into a rifle.
